ŁYS performance at Rondo Sztuki
One bloke at a party asked me, ‘Are you a man or a woman?’ And I said, ‘I am your question. You have a question. I don't have a question. I am Łys.’
The performance is an extension of the show premiering on 29 June in Krakow. It is not a direct transfer of scenes or the entire show, but a new, fluctuating encounter between performers in a new space.
How can bodies appear in space, communicate with each other and with viewers outside the binary code? ŁYS opens up perception to physicality, detached from the habitual attribution of characteristics and the tendency to eroticise nudity. Looking at what is familiar and familiar in the body, and what is peculiar and opaque, ŁYS explores the possibility of post-gender dance. By directing attention to the sensory and auditory aspects of the event, ŁYS understands physicality and subjectivity as unstable, changeable, and in constant relation to the environment. Working with human and non-human bodies, music tracks and sounds collected live from the environment, we move towards post-gender communality.
The event accompanies the exhibition I TU TEŻ (HERE TOO), curated by Kamil Kuitkowski and Magdalena Kownacka.
